New Delhi: With the Shiv Sena on Saturday declaring its contender for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the BJP made it clear that it won’t challenge the posts, therefore making room for Sena.

Fadnavis said his Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is prepared to offer support to the Shiv Sena yet would not take any post, including of Deputy Mayor, Leader of Opposition, or chairmanship of any panels in the nation’s wealthiest and greatest city body.

“On the off chance that they require any votes, the BJP is prepared to offer support to the Shiv Sena,” he told media people here.

Fandavis, who drove the BJP’s city survey battle on the board of ‘straightforwardness’, said his gathering would rather remain the “guard dog” in BMC.

“Individuals in Mumbai voted overwhelmingly for the BJP since they had confidence in our motivation for straightforwardness in the urban organization,” he said.

Neither the Sena, which rose as the single biggest gathering with 84 seats, nor the BJP, a nearby second with 82 corporators, has enough numbers to touch the midway stamp in 227-part chamber.
